Who the HELL is

the truth

Half Antipodean, half British blues musician Patch Brown has lived most of his life with no fixed address. A wanderer, seeker and storyteller, Brown spent his younger years living in the attic of an old blues pub in London’s West End. It was there he met R.L Burnside, Lazy Lester and got to sit in with Big Joe Louis and members of the Yardbirds. This was said to be ‘The University Of The Blues’. A fascination with Blues Mythology and the elusive characters including Howlin’ Wolf, Lightning Hopkins and Muddy Waters, Brown eventually started performing solo as ‘Hellhound Brown’ after his long time blues band ‘The Hellhounds’ dis-banded. Brown currently lives in Australia and continues to traverse the globe sharing his stories and keeping the mysterious spirit of the blues alive.

the lies

Hellhound Brown is the reincarnation of Howlin’ Wolf’s second cousin once removed. Born at a young age somewhere in the South with six fingers on his left hand, he is supposedly the only person born with a gold front tooth.  A black man trapped in a white man’s body, Brown is a blues performer by night and graveyard digger by day. Brown travels mostly by train and very rarely has a ticket. His music is shrouded in mystery: hard to pick up and not easy to put down. His old steel guitar is said to be haunted and he is rumoured to have seven wives on seven continents. Currently out on bail for stealing a feather from a black cockatoo, Hellhound Brown will be playing Red’s Juke Joint in Clarksdale Mississippi at midnight on the full moon, August 16.
